00:01 - In 1989, The Arc Foundation was officially formed. Our sole purpose and mission is to provide funds to support the programs and services for The Arc of Ventura County.
00:10 - The Arc provides services to over 700 people with disabilities, so we're very proud of the fact that we can help raise funds and support quality programs for all of those individuals.
00:25 - Everything that's donated in this county stays here, and it benefits our services, our programs, and the people we support. It's a critical fundraising arm for us.
00:34 - It's also a real outreach to our community. We've got a very loyal donor base.
00:42 - They call in or come to our website and schedule a donation.
00:49 - We currently have four trucks on the road Monday through Friday, picking up donations throughout Ventura County. Each truck makes about 35 to 40 stops per day. They're well known in the community. You see the trucks everywhere.
00:58 - All the goods are picked up by the drivers and brought to this location. This is our main warehouse.
01:07 - Here, everything is processed and prepared to go back to the store for resale.
01:16 - The biggest unknown in our business is volume. The amount of product that we receive is pretty amazing.
01:24 - Everything comes through here: clothes, dishes, bikes, electronics, guitars, instruments, you name it.
01:30 - Our store in Oxnard has a great combination of customers who need inexpensive goods, as well as collectors, treasure hunters, and people who resell items.
01:38 - It's all across the board, which makes it nice because some of the items we pick up are old, vintage, or antique.
01:46 - Some of it is simply baby clothes that kids have outgrown.
01:57 - We're very lucky to have a great staff here. Many people have been with us for more than 20 years. They always work hard and take pride in the fact that they're helping people with disabilities.
02:05 - I love it. I personally give back to the community by feeding the homeless, so being able to work here is pretty amazing.
02:20 - My favorite thing is working here. I love it here. We take a lot of pride in what we do and enjoy it.
02:28 - Everyone is familiar with our cause, and that's a good thing. We've been around for decades and have a lot of great community support.
